Traveling to Qatar? You will need a visa. Zimbabwean citizens cannot enter the country without one. The State of Qatar offers many visa types based on your travel purpose. For example, you can apply for most visas online. Use the official Hayya portal for your application. You can also use the Qatar Visa Portal. The Ministry of Interior (MOI) oversees this entire process.
Types of Qatar Visas for Zimbabwean Citizens
Tourist Visa (A1)
This visa is valid for 30 days. You can extend it for another 30 days. Apply online through the Hayya Portal.
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
Do you hold a valid visa from the US or UK? Or a residency permit from Canada or Schengen nations? You may qualify for an eTA. However, your visa or permit must be valid for at least 30 days.
eVisa (A3)
This online visa is for stays up to 30 days. Processing is quick. It usually takes 1 to 5 business days.
GCC Resident Visa (A2)
This visa is for residents of GCC countries. For example, Bahrain, Kuwait, or Oman. It is for specific roles like doctors or engineers. Your residency needs 6 months validity.
Family Visit Visa
A resident in Qatar can sponsor your visit. This visa is valid for one month. In addition, you can extend it up to six months. You must provide proof of your family relationship.
Business Visa
Use this for meetings or short projects. It requires an invitation from a Qatari company. Validity ranges from 14 to 90 days.
Student Visa
You need admission to a Qatari school. You must also show proof that you paid tuition.
Work Visa
Your employer in Qatar arranges this visa. This process includes medical examinations. It also includes background checks before final approval.
Required Documents
You will need several key documents for your application. Make sure you have everything ready.
- valid passport: your passport must be valid for six months beyond your stay,
- passport-sized photograph: the photo must have a white background,
- visa application form: you must complete this form online,
- flight reservation: this includes your return ticket details,
- proof of accommodation: a hotel booking or host invitation is needed,
- financial proof: show recent bank statements. they must have at least QAR 5000. that is about USD 1370. a valid credit card can also work,
- additional specific documents may be required. for example, employment contracts or school letters.
Qatar Visa Application Process
- First, access the Hayya Portal or Qatar Visa Portal.
- Then, select the correct visa type for you.
- Fill out the Visa Application Form with care. Ensure all details are accurate.
- Complete the Document Upload process.
- Make the Fee Payment. You must pay in Qatari Riyals (QAR).
- Finally, wait for approval. This takes 1–5 business days for eVisas.
Visa Fees and Payments
You must pay all visa fees online in Qatari Riyals (QAR). Importantly, these payments are non-refundable. This is true even if your visa is rejected. For Work Visas, employers usually pay extra costs. These fees cover medical tests and permits. They cost about QAR 200–500.
Visa Rejection Reasons
Why might your visa be rejected? There are a few common reasons.
- incomplete or inaccurate documents,
- personal details that do not match,
- unresolved criminal records or other security issues,
- no proof of your ties to Zimbabwe. for example, a job, property, or family.
